Winter ready! – your winter emergency kit

Get winter ready with Revive! – the UK experts in minor car body repairs. We repair wherever you are!

Winter is coming

Winter is coming (for all of you Game of Thrones fans out there) but don’t worry, we don’t mean white walkers.

It is time to dig out the hat, scarf and gloves this weekend as the cold winter snap is set to ease itself in after a very mild November start – you can even expect snow in northern parts of the UK.

By Saturday 21st the whole country is looking at temperatures near zero as the cold Arctic air whips over the UK. Bad news for Scotland as forecasters are predicting it to be colder there than in Moscow with temperatures potentially dropping to -10C, however we all know how accurate weather forecasters can be…

Winter emergency kit

With snow storms predicted it is perhaps a good time to review what you should be keeping as a winter emergency kit to get you out of a spot of bother during this period of bad weather.

A winter emergency kit is essential this time of year so here is what the AA have proposed:

  • Blanket or sleeping bag to keep warm in case of breakdown
  • Carpet or thick cardboard to place under wheels to help regain traction on snow or ice
  • Salt, sand or cat litter – to help clear snow and ice
  • A torch
  • A high visibility jacket
  • A shovel
  • Screen wash
  • An ice scraper and de-icer
  • Tow rope
  • Snow chains if you live in a rural or badly affected area
  • Bottled water
  • A set of jump leads
  • Snacks

If you have any more ideas of what could be kept in a winter emergency kit, we’d love to hear them. Feel free to pop us a comment on Facebook or Twitter and let us know your top tips.
