Coventry Blaze January Results

It was a mixed start to the new year for Coventry Blaze with a number of challenging games in the schedule it was looking to be an exciting month. But a couple of heavy defeats certainly took the shine off the start of their 2025 Campaign, but a few members of the Revive! team were lucky enough to support the Blaze at their home game against the Guildford Flames.

Coventry Blaze vs Fife Flyers – 3-1 – 4th January

The Coventry Blaze got off to a hot start in January with a 3-1 victory over the Fife Flyers. It was certainly a hard-fought game with both sides eager to start their 2025 campaigns off strong. Three strong goals from Brandon Alderson, Michael Regush and Alessio Luciani however put the Flyers down.

Coventry Blaze vs Belfast Giants – 3-2 – 5th January

It seems the Blaze were never going to be given an easy one, with a second hard fought contest, this time against the Belfast Giants. A stiff contest throughout Coventry managed to secure the 3-2 victory with goals from Alessio Luciani, Greyson Constable and a final shootout between the two sides with the Blaze coming out on top.

Coventry Blaze vs Sheffield Steelers – 0-5 – 11th January

Coventry Blaze suffered a devastating wipeout at the hands of the Sheffield Steelers. While the Blaze managed to keep a clean score sheet for the first period, the second period unfortunately was Coventry’s down fall and saw the Steelers push 4 goals past the Blaze Keeper Matt Robson. Thankfully the onslaught stopped for the final period with the Steelers only managing 1 further goal to defeat the Blaze.

Coventry Blaze vs Manchester Storm – 5-1 – 12th January

Keen to bounce back from their devastating loss the day before, Coventry Blaze dominated the Manchester Storm streaking their way to a 5-1 victory. The goals rained down from the first period with Kim Tallberg and Alessio Luciana slotting their shots cleanly between the posts. The second period saw Morten Jurgens take his turn to score followed by Brandon Alderson. In the final period Chase Gresock sealed Manchester fate with a final goal with just two minutes remaining.

Coventry Blaze vs Nottingham Panthers – 1-2 – 18th January

In a heart-breaking defeat for the Blaze, they just narrowly lost out. The first period saw a quick goal for the Blaze from Nick Seitz, what followed was a highly competitive contest that saw no goals from either side. It took till the final 5 minutes for the Panthers to equalise with a second goal coming with just two minutes remaining.

Coventry Blaze vs Guildford Flames – 3-2 – 19th January

It was a hard fought overtime victory for Coventry as Chase Gresock secured a fantastic hattrick to secure the win. Gresock scored his first in the closing moments of the first period, equalising an earlier Flames goal. At the halfway point Gresock grabbed his second goal of the night to put the Blaze ahead, but Guildford quickly equalised. Both teams struggled to capitalise leading to overtime which saw Gresock secure his hattrick with just 1 minute remaining of the contest.

Coventry Blaze vs Belfast Giants – 2-3 – 25th January

It was time for Coventry Blaze to face the league leaders once again. Sadly the Blaze were thwarted in a difficult contest that saw the Coventry team score twice, once from Chase Gresock early into the second period, and a second in the final 20 minutes by Terrance Amorosa. This led the teams to overtime, but both teams still couldn’t find the elusive goal. The final shootout saw Belfast stand tall taking the final victory and leaving Coventry Blaze to lick their wounds for another day.

Coventry Blaze vs Dundee Stars – 3-2 – 26th January

Coventry Blaze put on a stunning show against the Dundee Stars, with goalie Mat Robson completing 42 saves in total making him man of the match. The Blaze took a commanding lead early on with two goals within the first period from the sticks of Alessio Luciani and Jakob Stridsberg. The Stars managed to stage a comeback in the second and third period leading to overtime to find the winner. Just two minutes into Overtime Mike Kennedy slotted away the puck to secure the victory.

Coventry Blaze vs Guildford Flames – 3-6 – 29th January

You might be forgiven for thinking that Coventry Blaze has this game sewn up by the end of the second period with a 3-1 lead, but anything can happen in Ice Hockey. The Blaze’s goals came courtesy of Jack Hopkins, Mike Regush and Nick Seitz. The final period saw the Guildford Flames rise from the ashes to dominate the contest, somehow managing to squeeze 5 goals into just 20 minutes.

Revive! were actually lucky enough to attend this exciting game with a number of our team securing a box courtesy of Coventry Blaze. Revive! would just like to thank Coventry Blaze for their hospitality we only wish our support had led to securing a victory.

Coventry Blaze vs Manchester Storm – 2-5 – 1st February

The Blaze were looking to end the month on a high, turning the tables on their disastrous previous game, sadly the Manchester Storm didn’t get the message. The Blaze were smothered for most of the first period unable to get out of the starting blocks. Terrance Amorosa opened the scoring for Coventry at the 25-minute mark, but before the end of the second period it was already 4-1 to Manchester. The Blaze did manage a second consolation goal, but at the 57-minute mark it was too little too late for the Coventry natives.
