Andrew Jordan takes a step back in time at the Goodwood Revival

Revive! sponsored driver Andrew Jordan had the opportunity to take a step back in time during the Goodwood Revival this past weekend. Competing in the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy which he won in 2022, Andrew got behind the wheel of his purple 1963 AC Cobra Dragonsnake as he teamed with Tom Hartley Jr to take on a host of former and current racing drivers in a variety of 1960s racing cars including Aston Martins, Jaguars, Ferraris and Cobras.

Following a jumped start by his teammate at the beginning of the race, Andrew was fighting against all odds with a 10 second time penalty issued to the team, getting behind the wheel at the halfway point of the race. His battle started as soon as he got in the car with major traffic in the pitlane preventing him from joining the famous Goodwood circuit and dropping him to 10th.

After tag teaming a £1m Ferrari with fellow Cobra driver Nigel Greensall, Andrew continued his push to the front coming up to 6th position on the 17th lap of the race. The Cobras continued their makeshift partnership to then take on an Aston Martin DB4GT with the superior handling of the Cobras out manoeuvring the heavier Aston into the first corner.

Sitting in 5th place Andrew had a 20 second gap to make up with only 13 minutes left of the race, certainly a tall order for any professional driver. Shockingly however, three of the next four cars on Andrews hit list were then given a costly 50 second time penalty for entering the pitlane when it was closed, completely changing the outlook of the race for the rest of the field.

In the closing moments of the race a red flag was issued due to a scary crash for one of the Corvettes, this led to an early stoppage with the final running order still up in the air due to the wide variety of penalties issued. However, the podium was eventually announced as follows:

1st Jimmie Johnson/ Dario Franchitti – 1960 Aston Martin DB4GT

2nd John Spiers/Nigel Greensall – 1962 AC Cobra

3rd Tom Hartley Jr/Andrew Jordan – 1963 AC Cobra Dragonsnake

Revive! would like to wish a well-deserved congratulations to both Andrew Jordan and Tom Hartley Jr on their fantastic 3rd place finish. It was certainly an exciting spectacle of a race which you can relive here on the Goodwood YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kihky2dewCs
