Andrew Jordan dominates the opening round of Dunlop Mini Se7en Challenge
Revive! sponsored driver Andrew Jordan took a dominant victory in both opening rounds of the Dunlop Mini Se7en Challenge at Donington Park over the easter weekend. Behind the wheel of his fathers Mini (due to issues with his own Mini Miglia car) Jordan took pole position for both races of the weekend with a qualifying lap record of 1:56.94 for the first race.
Getting to grips with the damp track, the first race saw the drivers competing late in the day, battling for light as well as position. Jordan set a blistering pace, blazing a trail his compatriots could barely match. Indeed, Jordan left the rest of the field to battle for second and third with his Mini Se7en unmatched in pace. Setting the fastest lap on his tenth lap with a time of 1:57.9 Jordan crossed the line with a 15.58 second lead over 2nd place Joe Thompson. A relatively drama free opening round for Jordan as he dominates throughout in Verstappen like form.
On pole again for the second race Jordan continued his dominant performance leading from the front throughout, facing barely a challenge from the rest of the field. Jordan set the fastest lap of 1:56.87 on the fifth lap of the 20-minute race, before going on to take victory for his second time of the weekend leading his closest rival, Ross Billison by 15.3 seconds.
Andrews brother Bradley was also on track during the weekend competing in the Dunlop Mini Se7en S Class placing 20th on track and 10th in class in the first round and 18th on track and 8th in class in the second race.
In summary Andrew had a very dominant weekend with barely a challenge from his competitors, two pole positions, two fastest laps and two race wins. Certainly, an impressive way to start the season and giving him a hefty championship lead.
