Andrew Jordan completes the final round of Mini Miglia competition for 2024 at Silverstone
Revive! sponsored driver Andrew Jordan brought home victory in his final race of the 2024 season at Silverstone Circuit on Saturday. Competing in the Mini Miglia championship series Jordan had a fierce battle alongside 5 other contenders for victory. Both Andrews brother Bradley, and Father Mike were also in competition during the weekend in the Mini Se7en S-Class and Se7en Series respectively.
Andrew took a forceful start into the first race powering away from second on the grid to take the lead of the race into the first corner. The damp track was proving treacherous for many as they slithered across the tarmac. Jordan was capable of building a small lead on the first lap until a red flag forced the grid to stop due to an accident on the start/finish straight. Although there were thankfully no injuries it took some time to remove the stricken Mini from the track leading to the race restarting with just 16 minutes remaining.
Despite the stoppage Andrew restarted in similar fashion to his previous start taking the lead into the first corner and started to rebuild the gap he had lost due to the red flag. However, the rest of the field weren’t playing along and Jordan escaped the main pack with four other cars on his tail including Ben Colburn who was determined to challenge Jordan for the lead.
Jordan defended his position from Colburn for three laps before Colburn attempted a hasty manoeuvre into the chicane and spun out. Jordan however, managed to avoid incident and continued his dominance, one challenger down. The remaining Minis gave him no quarter however with both Endaf Owens and Aaron Smith both taking on Jordans challenge. The trio battled it out for the following three laps before being joined by a further two cars, driven by Jeff Smith and angry Ben Colburn. Andrew maintained his position at the front of the group with Jeff Smith taking the lead.
The group put on a fearsome performance all round at times taking corners four abreast. Swapping positions lap after lap contact was inevitable at some point, and with 22 seconds to go and heading in to the final lap Endaf Owens spun out in the path of Aaron Smith taking both out of contention for the win. Leaving the final trio of Andrew Jordan, Jeff Smith and Ben Colburn to battle it out on the final lap. Jeff Smith dropped back on their final trip down the Hangar straight leaving Colburn and Jordan to fight it out through the final chicane that cost Colburn so dearly in their last contest.
It was almost as if fear got the better of him as Colburn relinquished the chicane to Jordan, pulling in behind the Revive! driver for the tight corner before the finish line. Leaving Andrew Jordan to take victory after fierce battling throughout the race, a fantastic performance from the Jordan family headliner.
Due to Andrew competing a limited schedule this year he was sadly out of contention for the overall championship but did manage to take 9th in the championship with 6 wins from 7 races run.
