Frustrations at Croft for Revive!’s Jordan

It was a frustrating weekend (27th and 28th June) for Revive!’s Andrew Jordan and the Pirtek and Triple Eight racing teams during rounds 13, 14 and 15 of the British Touring Car Championship at Croft.

Consistent and successful racing from Andrew previously at Oulton Park meant heavy success ballast (48kg) for the Croft event, spelling tough racing ahead.

Finishing in sixth spot in the first race boded well however the day’s prospects deteriorated quickly concluding in a non-finish in the final race.

After a difficult round of qualifying, Andrew started in 10th place on the grid, just eight-tenths of a second slower than pole.

I was happy with qualifying as the data showed there wasn’t much more to get out of the car, the extra weight was really hurting us.” Commented Andrew. Despite the considerable handicap from the ballast, Andrew raced hard to get up to sixth place from tenth on the grid – the main positive from the day.

Unfortunately, the second race proved a struggle on soft tyres, consequently resulting in a lack of pace early on, eventually leading to less grip and stripping Jordan’s ability to defend against the wave of attacks from other drivers. “The performance just dropped off a cliff. I could feel it as early as the second lap. I was not expecting that at all as usually we are strong on the soft tyres. I was very surprised to be as weak as we were.” 14th spot for Andrew in race two.

In line with the events of the day, race three thwarted the prospect of any further success, with a 14th place grid start and a race retirement – a consequence of contact with another car which collapsed the rear suspension of the MG. “The result of race two left us starting race three where we didn’t want to be. We shouldn’t have been back there and that sort of incident is inevitable.”  Andrew summarised on the back of a difficult weekend.

The BTCC now enters a six week summer break, resuming at Snetterton on 8th and 9th August. If you fancy watching the racing at Snetterton in style with Pirtek hospitality tickets, courtesy of Revive!, keep your eyes peeled on our competitions page.
