The latest figures from the The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders reveal that new car sales reached their highest level this century with half a million new vehicles being registered in March. According to leading SMART repairer Revive! this means that as more used cars reach the marketplace, the pressure will be on dealers and private motorists to up their game when it comes to used car prep.
Commented Mark Llewellyn, managing director of Revive! : “Our technicians are reporting a significant rise in enquiries from members of the public and trade customers wanting to fix minor scuffs and scrapes on vehicle bodywork and alloy wheels in readiness for sale.
“Half a million new cars on the road in just one month means thousands more trade ins. When you combine this rising number of used cars with those vehicles already being offered for private sale, it’s easy to see why more emphasis is being placed on presenting used stock in the best possible condition.
“Buyers looking for a used car now have a greater pool to choose from and at the end of the day it’s the smarter, tidier vehicles that get sold first.
“People are realising that it is well worth investing the small amount involved to fix minor cosmetic damage to give them a stand-out car which achieves a higher price or quicker sale.”
