Revive! are delighted to re-sign with Andrew Jordan as the youngest ever BTCC champion begins his 2021 Mini Miglia programme. Jordan is currently on hiatus from the British Touring Car Championship due to difficulties created by the COVID-19 pandemic, but as one of the UK’s leading motorsport competitors he has maintained his status as a Red Bull athlete, Scalextric ambassador and Goodwood ambassador.
Revive!’s Managing Director (Sales & Marketing), Mark Llewellyn, commented: “We are delighted to be working again with Andrew in 2021 – our tenth year working together. Even beyond the exciting Mini Miglia programme, we have seen the value that a world class athlete can bring to the Revive! brand. Andrew’s first race in his Revive! branded Mini Miglia will be at Silverstone next weekend (April 24/25) for the opening round of the Mini 7 racing championship. The races will be live streamed on Facebook and YouTube, as well as being broadcast on Freeview/BT/TalkTalk channel 64, Sky channel 422, and Virgin Media channel 553.

We are very proud to announce that our Managing Director (Finance & Operations), Terry Mullen, has been named as one of the top influencers in the automotive industry by the Auto Body Professionals (ABP) Club.
The ABP’s Industry Influencers list represents the 120 men and women who are having the greatest influence on the UK body repair industry today. This list replaces the ABP’s Power List and Women of Influence list – which Terry was also chosen for in 2019.
Terry helped found Revive! in 2004 alongside business partner Mark Llewellyn; this came after four years in the industry and a prior 21-year career lending to businesses at NatWest.
Terry has been an integral part of Revive!’s growth; overseeing the work of the finance team, developing the appropriate business systems to support our network, managing day-to-day operations for our support staff and creating structures to recruit, train and manage new people.
After being a finalist for EWiF Woman Franchisor of the Year in 2020, Terry’s placement on the ABP’s Influencers list is further validation of her valuable contributions to the industry.
“I’m very proud to be named amongst a list of individuals who contribute so much to the automotive sector,” said Terry. “At Revive!, we play our part in ensuring minor repairs are done in the most professional way and I am grateful to all the team at Revive! for the ongoing work they do.”

It’s fantastic to celebrate International Women’s day at Revive!, in a male-dominated sector Revive! stands apart with women representing two thirds of the Directors and Management Team.
“What makes Revive! different are the processes and the people,“ says joint Managing Director, Mark Llewellyn. Revive! repairs minor damage on cars and the Revive! network totals close to 300 people nationally – this includes franchisees and their employees.
“The majority of the repairers are male and this fits the usual stereotype of an automotive technician. It’s interesting that the overwhelming majority of decision makers at Revive! HO are female – this didn’t come for any reason other than we always strive to find the best person for the job.”
Halfway through January, the third week back into the New Year and it feels like we have been back for months! Probably something to do with the lack of a real break over Christmas and the ongoing pressure of the third lockdown.
Reflecting on the previous year is always useful and, despite the turbulent time, there are still key metrics to be assessed and lessons we can learn moving forward.
Although sales didn’t improve from the previous year for the first time ever, almost a quarter of 2020 was spent in lockdown with much of the network closed down. Sales dipping by only 14% from the previous year is really a testament to the outstanding effort put in by our whole team.
If we compare like for like sales – only comparing months when we were trading – we show a very different trend: sales up again with key factors being the internal efficiencies and hard work from office staff, franchisees and technicians. Indeed, a number of technicians produced extraordinary sales results working in difficult conditions.
The quality of our work remains outstanding as Revive! closes in on 12,000 reviews on Trustpilot with a 4.9 out of 5 rating and 98% of customer judging us as Good or Excellent.

2021 will see a slow start with Lockdown 3 closing car dealers for anything other than click and collect services. However, there is confidence that given a clear run at things sales could quickly return to similar levels as the summer of 2020.
Even through this terrible pandemic, there is an ongoing need for minor car repairs – to fix a car quickly and conveniently. At Revive!, we continue to maintain our technical excellence and outstanding customer service and this gives us confidence that we can continue to provide our usual quality service even while other areas of life are far from ‘normal’.
The success that Revive! has had to date is consistently underpinned by the hard work put in by our entire team. Some incredible results were achieved in 2020 due to our team’s ability to maximise opportunities and their understanding of the importance of putting the time in, alongside our usual high standards of customer service.
Accounts manager at Revive!, Louise Evans, has been named Woman Franchise Employee of the Year and Overall Woman in Franchising at the 2020 Encouraging Women into Franchising (EWIF) Awards. Earlier in 2020, she was also voted Revive! Employee of the Year at our annual conference.
Although the official EWIF Awards were moved to an online event, our joint managing director, Mark Llewellyn, laid on a surprise ‘red carpet’ socially distanced reception for Louise at our new Head Office at Sparta Road, Rugby.
Louise joined Revive! as a member of the bookkeeping team in 2014 and was encouraged to gain more qualifications and subsequent responsibilities. She rose to the challenge, going back to college and achieving consistently high marks in accountancy exams and has recently been promoted to accounts manager with four people reporting to her. She is also part of the business development team who help franchisees understand their financials in more depth, and it was for this aspect of her work that she was nominated as Revive! Employee of the Year by her peers.
Said Louise: “It felt amazing to win not only one, but two awards! I was in utter shock to the point where I was lost for words. I’m so grateful for the recognition from not only my company but also from the Encouraging Women into Franchising Awards judges. I believe it will highlight how much Revive! cares about their franchisees and that they are willing to put time and effort into developing their employees to ensure we are the best at what we do.”

Following the Government’s most recent notice of a third lockdown, Revive! is responding appropriately and will continuing trading safely and professionally where our customers need us.
The guidance provided by the government is more explicit in that it details that tradespeople can work, indeed even inside of the homes of others, but at Revive! fortunately this is not necessary.
During this public health emergency, our priority continues to be the health and safety of our employees and customers. We are working actively to monitor the COVID-19 situation.
The last year has been extremely difficult for everyone but as professional tradesmen we have used this time to adapt our processes to work safely through the pandemic.
We are taking all necessary precautions both at Head Office as well as at our customers’ facilities, be it a house, office or car dealership. We are also implementing necessary protocols and providing our employees with regular guidance on local requirements, based on relevant business and local directives.
Our skilled technicians working alone, outside minimise the risks to our customers, bystanders and themselves.
We are committed to working together with our customers and suppliers during these uncertain times, and we are thankful for their trust and continued partnership.
Following multiple successful pilots from the previous lockdown, we are pleased that our technicians are able to return to work with social distancing to ensure a safe environment for our employees, technicians and customers.
We are putting in place a number of measures to follow the social distancing guidelines.
We wanted to reassure you of the steps we’re taking to ensure we continue to deliver a great service for you as well as keeping you and our technician safe.
Our highest priority is the health and well-being of everyone, and our focus is to equip and support our teams so that they can work productively and efficiently without being exposed to unnecessary health risks.
Mobile technician guidelines
Our technicians wash their hands regularly and wear gloves. Gloves are disposed of and changed between repairs.
Where possible on arrival, the technician will call you rather than coming to your doorstep.
Our technicians are instructed not to handle your keys and as such we will require you to be present with the vehicle at the repair location so that you can unlock the vehicle and move it if necessary.
During this time, our technicians will respect a 2m distance from you at all times. We ask that you please do the same.
We do still require off-road parking and access to electricity, so please can you liaise with the technician regarding a safe way for them to plug into power. However we will endeavour to use our own power / generator where possible.
The technician will be wiping down tooling, including the extension leads and any areas of your property which they come into contact with.
We deploy work to our technicians via their phone and as such we have instructed them at this time not to obtain a satisfaction signature from you on completion of the repair. Please do let a member of our customer services team know if there is a problem with the repair or if you are not satisfied in any way.
Head Office: COVID-secure environment
At the same time, we are continuing to ensure that at Head Office we are working in a number of different ways. We have some members of the team working from home and others working in the office in a COVID-secure environment:

we have taken all reasonable steps to maintain 2m distance and everything practical to manage transmission risk

Revive! offers a service repairing minor damage to cars and has a national network of repairers covering the breadth of the country, working from customised vans, with a small but growing number of static sites.
On the week of March 23rd, the Revive! business and the whole of its network – spanning some 60 franchisees and 250+ employees across the country – went into furlough due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The business re-opened with pilot operations at the end of May, and sales grew rapidly over the next few months. By July, all franchisees were back trading and extraordinary sales followed with record sales achieved in July, only to be surpassed in September.
While Revive! remains prudent with the immediate future uncertain, here are the lessons learned from lockdown and how Revive! quickly returned to outstanding levels of sales.
Get the mindset right
A national lockdown is a new phenomenon for the British public, and so there was some initial thought that franchisees would head into hibernation and watch Netflix or play poker for 3 months (other streaming devices / card games are available). We quickly realised that we did not have many opportunities to sit down and plan; to clarify how we would return to business; to work on the things we needed to do without distraction; and to get a clear mindset ready to return to work with a bang.
It was noticeable that the franchisees who had the right mindset – who were clear about their objectives and who used lockdown effectively – got back to business strongly.
Once the realisation settled in that this was not a break or a holiday, the planning began in earnest. We had to focus on how the business would return and run various risk scenarios: what if the trade returned with fewer sales? How would that impact on us and what could we do to mitigate a loss of sales in a certain area? A significant amount of time was spent on planning sales, with external trainers brought in to review new opportunities. Plans were created so that we knew where we were going to target on our return to work. We didn’t leave things to chance.
Hard work always wins
Hard work underpins everything in business; there are very few shortcuts. In lockdown it was a very different type of work: planning, preparing, developing sales and marketing strategies, and communicating clearly with colleagues and the teams around the country. We were under no illusion that we would need to work hard right through lockdown to get ready for our return to work.
Focus on efficiencies
Linked to all the work we did during lockdown was a focus on how we could do things better and more effectively. While the government’s furlough scheme allowed us to keep people safe at home, we also realised that we needed to bring people back gradually to meet the growing demand of work.
This enabled us to review each role and ensure we were as efficient as we possibly could be. We made changes to a number of processes. Ultimately, this led to a highly efficient and motivated workforce who delivered outstanding results.
The power of a positive collective cannot be underestimated in difficult times. Of course, it is important that there is leadership and direction but having groups of positive franchisees discussing the best way forward together is a huge asset. Weekly video-chat meetings were extremely productive, and franchisees exited these meetings with a positive frame of mind and a clear strategy for their businesses.
Delivering outstanding customer service
The continual delivery of outstanding customer service is vital to any business, none more so than now; this includes understanding how to keep staff and customers safe as well as delivering the core service in the right way. Fortunately, at Revive! we have been able to marry safety with the outstanding service we provide and this has in turn led to some incredible results on our return to work.
The pandemic has brought new challenges which none of us were expecting. Working to help our franchisees stay focused and positive has delivered hugely positive results across the Revive! network and we will continue this focus over the coming months.

Later in the year, we will hear if we have been successful in the British Franchise Association Franchisor of the Year Awards, sponsored by HSBC. These prestigious awards are widely acknowledged as the ‘Oscars’ of the franchise sector and we were delighted to be shortlisted for the top award, one of six franchises battling it out.
Our joint MDs, Mark Llewellyn and Terry Mullen, presented our case to the judging panel via Zoom due to the pandemic restrictions and really enjoyed telling our story.

Revive! have a rich history in these awards, winning the HSBC Franchise Support Award in 2018. In addition, our East Anglia franchisees won the 2016 Franchisee of the Year Award, against strong competition from some household name brands.

Managing Director, Terry, is also up for Woman Franchisor of the Year in the EWIF (Encouraging Women into Franchising) Awards and our Accounts Manager, Louise Evans, is a finalist in the EWIF Woman Employee award.
Earlier in the year, we were finalists in the Franchise Marketing Awards after winning the Online Campaign award in 2019.
And we have just put in our entry for the Elite Franchise Top 100 list, which Revive! has featured in every year since it began. Last year, we were very proud to be ranked 8th in the UK, above a number of household name brands.
